Cheap Skiing!

Lower slope, ParangOnly a five minute walk from home is the chairlift station which offers easy access to the slopes in Parang, which are beginner/intermediate in difficulty. Slopes for the more advanced skiiers can be found less than an hour's drive away on the 5km ski track in the resort of Straja. Both resorts offer excellent skiing and snowboarding at some of the cheapest prices in Europe, set against the truly dramatic backdrop of the Transylvanian Alps. The season usually runs from early December to late March.

A return chairlift ride in Parang is currently 9 lei (about £1.80).

Single ski-lift ("button" style) rides range between 1.5 and 2 lei (about £0.30p) a ride, and a ten ride pass costs between 10 - 15 lei (about £2.50), depending on the length of the ride.

Facilities

View from upper slopes, ParangThere are two ski and snowboard rental places available at the moment, and the price of equipment (boots and skis only - you'll need your own mountain clothing!) is 30 lei per day, or about £5.60. Additional facilities on the mountain include two restaurants and two cafe/bars.
