Dramatic Location
Our chalet is situated in the southern Translyvanian mountain resort of Parang, at an altitude of approximately 1100m.
The nearest town, Petrosani, is only a 10 minute drive away.
Getting There
Romania is served by many of the major airlines, including British Airways, Air France, Alitalia, and Lufthansa. The most convenient airports are Bucharest Otopeni (code: OTP) and Timisoara (code: TSR). Both are served daily by scheduled flights from London, as well as many other European airports. Direct flights from London Heathrow to Bucharest start from £140. From January 15th 2007, the low-cost airline Wizz Air will be offering direct flights from London Luton airport to Bucharest Baneasa (code: BBU) from only £6.99 each way excluding taxes. Advance bookings can be made now on their website.
From Timisoara the transfer time is approximately 3.5hrs by train or by car.
From Bucharest, the transfer time is approximately 6hrs.
We are able to arrange an English-speaking driver to collect you from either airport, at extra cost. Please feel free to contact us for further information. If you would prefer the excitement and independence of hiring a car, we would be more than happy to provide you with the necessary maps and directions. The individual airport websites provide information regarding their rental car services.
Alternatively, it is possible to reach Petrosani by sleeper train from the Hungarian capital of Budapest. This has
the benefit of being reachable via the low-cost airline easyJet.
Once you're there it's possible to travel around by metered taxi, which offer excellent value.
UK/EU/US nationals (amongst others) do not require a visa to enter Romania, only a passport.
